Solar Powered Attic Ventilator
|
Perhaps you have not considered this already, but a solar powered attic ventilator could be just what you need to keep your house cool and the air within it fresh. All of this while not spending a cent on electricity to run the ventilator! In areas with a high amount of annual sunshine such as the Southern United States, there is ample solar energy to power a medium sized ventilator in your attic. Solar panels on your roof convert the sun's energy into electricity through photovoltaic cells which are normally made of silicon and other precious materials. For this reason solar panels are not cheap to manufacture. But rather than being put off by the expensive price tag of purchasing and installing your solar ventilating system, it is best to consider it as a long term investment. Not only will it cut your electricity bills but it also adds value to your house for if and when you decide to sell it. You will also need to prepare your roof properly to support the solar panels which can weigh around 70 to 100 kg, depending on the size of your system. Once in place, there is very little maintenance required, except for occasionally meaning of the inevitable bird poo! There are very few connections and apart from the ventilator there are no other moving parts. By using solar power to run your ventilator you can spend to save approximately 40 to 50 dollars each month that you use it. Bearing in mind, that electricity prices are set to rise as oil becomes ever more scarce and expensive, it seems sensible to invest in equipment and technology for your home which will stand the test of time and provide you with energy from a natural source such as the sun. In fact, all energy on earth comes from the sun including wind power too. By purchasing an attic ventilator which runs on solar power, you are taking one small step towards becoming more environmentally friendly and saving yourself some money in the process. The more of us that do this, the better! |
